HYDERABAD: A local court has directed the assistant commissioner of police, Rajendranagar, to register a criminal case for outraging the modesty of a woman and under the SC/ST (Prevention of atrocities) Act against Narsingi inspector Sanjay Kumar, a sub-inspector and one Shankar Rao, an LIC agent.
According to advocate Krishna Bhushan Chowdary, Shankar Rao harassed and misbehaved with a 25-year-old domestic help.
On July 22, when the victim and her family members went to the Narsingi police station to lodge a complaint, inspector Sanjay Kumar and sub-inspector Bhupathi made her kneel, hit her family members and abused them all on the basis of their caste.
"Since the cops did not register a case, we moved a private petition in the Ranga Reddy court on how Sanjay Kumar and other policemen misused their power by further victimizing the woman. The court directed ACP, Rajendranagar, to register a case for outraging the modesty of a woman and Prevention of SC and ST Atrocities Act against Shankar Rao, Sanjay Kumar and the SI," Krishna Bhushan said.
When contacted, Rajendranagar ACP A Mutham Reddy said he had no knowledge about the incident.
