Indian-born Mandi Sellers starts up conference for women empowerment in B.C.
Indian-born Mandi Sellers has launched a women's focused evening of celebration and empowerment.

Mandi Sellers is one of those entrepreneur types who is always looking to do more. As the successful CEO of Com-Tech Learning Solutions in Vancouver, she's already busy enough holding educational workshops, but when a new idea came to her in a dream, the Indian-born Sellers couldn't ignore it.

"I had a dream where a group of confident, positive, happy women seemed to have the answers to finding personal fulfillment," explains Sellers. "When I woke up, I realized that not only did I want to evolve myself to be like those women in my dream - in everything from my career and family life to health and image - but I wanted to help other women do the same."

The idea to hold a local women's conference came together quickly after that. She put a call out to her friends and associates to seek other women who wanted to get involved.

"I was amazed by the response. I thought that I have obviously hit a real need among women," says the mother of two girls. "There are so many women out there - both Canadian-born and immigrants - who are looking for more out of their lives."

She says it's easy to get bogged down in the daily responsibilities of being a professional, mother and wife, but it's important that women take the time to reinvest in themselves, find inspiration and better themselves. "I call this achieving radiance - inside and out." She dubbed the group of women volunteers who joined together to help her Achieve Radiance Events and Communications, and their inaugural women's conference, called Glow: A Women's Evening of Change and Celebration, has been set for June 1, 2012, at the Executive Inn Hotel, in Coquitlam.

More than simply a seminar, tradeshow or party, Glow is an exciting combination of all three, bringing together women who are seeking positive inspiration to change and improve their lives, while connecting with other women and having fun.

"Not just an evening out, Glow is a movement toward becoming more positive, successful, healthy and happy," says Mandi Sellers. "And what better time to announce the event than in time for International Women's Day today [March 8]?"

This is an event for women from across the Lower Mainland, including the Tri-Cities, Surrey, Langley, Maple Ridge, Burnaby and beyond. Glow will welcome them all with the red carpet treatment, complete with an on-site "paparazzi-style" photographer and local firefighters. The event's tradeshow floor will offer a mix of exhibitor tables and wares for sale, along with a silent auction and seminar series on topics that include personal growth, love and sex, health and body image. Well-known experts Dr. Ali Zentner, Ted Kuntz and Kim Amani will present 30-minute, engaging sessions intended to inspire and empower attendees.

There will also be a martini bar, complimentary hors d'oeuvres and a deejay who will open up the dance floor. The night will end with a complimentary swag bag for each attendee.

Most importantly, Glow is a charitable initiative, with proceeds going to the BC Cancer Agency, focusing on cancers that affect women, and Tri-City Transitions, a charitable organization providing help to women and families who have been impacted by violence and abuse.
