Three teenagers
on a bike allegedly resorted to eve-teasing with the girls, who later raised
their voice against the act.
“Hearing the shouts, two of the pillion riders fled the spot, leaving the rider behind. Some local residents nabbed the boy but he also managed to flee. Their bike was later set on fire by the irate mob. Moments later, the actual owner of the bike, who got married a couple of days back, arrived on the spot to take his bike back but was beaten black and blue by the mob,” a senior police official said.
The bike owner had given his vehicle to the teenagers to make arrangements for his upcoming wedding reception. The police were immediately alerted since Murad Nagar has a dense population of two different communities.
The victim was rescued by the police. The two accused were later arrested. The third was absconding after the incident.“There was nothing communal behind the incident but people got violent over the harassment. Normalcy in the area was restored and people from a different community condemned the eve-teasing incident,” circle officer RV Singh said.
